An airport transfer begins before you reach the car. For a first visit to Davos, the useful preparation is a sequence of handovers: airline to arrivals hall, baggage to passenger, passenger to driver, and driver to your accommodation. Keeping those handovers clear is more helpful than treating the published landing time as a promise that you will immediately be on the road.
Before leaving your departure airport
Save one travel note that you can read without a data connection. Include your transfer reference, arriving flight number, mobile contact, hotel or chalet street address and the person expecting you there. Add a second traveller’s number if your own phone may be unavailable. Send the actual accommodation address rather than simply Davos; an entrance or key-collection location may differ from the property’s postal address.
Landing is the start of the arrival process
Your aircraft still has to reach its stand and you have to leave the passenger area. Border procedures, walking and baggage collection vary between journeys. Tell the transfer team about assistance needs or a large equipment collection before travel, because these can affect the handover. Avoid telling a hotel that the transfer will depart at the flight’s exact landing time; share an approximate window and update it later.
Make contact once you can assess your progress
When your phone reconnects, send a short factual message: landed, waiting for bags, or ready to meet. If you are still inside the baggage area, say so. The most useful update is your actual progress rather than a guess about how many minutes remain. Keep the party together, especially with children, so the person communicating with dispatch knows whether everyone is ready to leave.
Check the agreed pickup instruction
Follow the meeting instructions attached to your booking and any subsequent driver message. Zurich Airport has separate Arrival 1 and Arrival 2 pickup arrangements; an airport-wide address alone is not enough to identify a meeting point. Before entering a vehicle, confirm the booking name or reference. If your location and the driver’s description do not match, contact dispatch instead of walking between pickup areas without coordination.
Finish with a usable accommodation handover
Tell your host when you are on the road, then keep key codes, reception information and the host’s number accessible. Check that all cases and smaller items leave the vehicle with you. For a late arrival, arrange access with the accommodation directly; the transfer booking does not establish a late check-in agreement. If a final section has restricted road access, agree the reachable handover point in advance.
For a first visit, ask the accommodation whether its map location refers to reception, a car park or the residential building. Save that distinction with the transfer brief. It prevents a successful airport journey ending at the wrong side of a large property.
Questions about this journey
Should I enter touchdown time as the meeting time?
Provide the scheduled flight arrival and flight number. The practical meeting happens after airport arrival procedures and the agreed driver contact.
Can I give only my hotel’s name?
A hotel name helps, but include its full street address and any separate reception or key-collection instruction.
Is the request itself a reservation?
No. The team checks availability and the quoted fare before issuing a confirmation for the journey.
